N54 E90 335i Build: The Best N54 Daily Driver Configurations

N54 E90 335i Build: The Best N54 Daily Driver Configurations. It was due time to totally update this post. I dislike introductions so we’ll leave it at that and dive into the more exciting stuff. I’ll keep some of the background information brief in the meantime and add to it over time. Presently, I am slowly building out my 335i to be a solid daily driver that can also run with some seriously quick cars in any scenario. Street, track, or strip I desire my E90 335i to run with a few of the best. Let’s dive into some details about the develop.

335i Develop Mods

I’ll lay out my present mods and then move onto a few of the mods I have planned for the future. It’s absolutely nothing crazy, but it’s an awesome car.

N54 Engine Mods

  • JB4 + MHD BEF
  • BMS DCI
  • VRSF 7.5″ FMIC
  • VRSF Catless DP’s.
  • Walbro 450 LPFP.
  • VRSF Inlets.
  • VRSF Aluminum Outlets.
  • N20 3.5 bar TMAP.
  • RB Twos Plus.

Absolutely nothing too ridiculous. I really simply got the N54 RB Turbos plus twos on the car just recently. I’m still working on calling whatever in. I’m wishing to make 525-550whp on an E40 or E50 mix. It may be too aggressive for the stock HPFP, so we’ll see how things hold when I increase boost. The plan is to play it safe because I’ll be pushing the limits of fueling. I’ll slowly roll in a bit more increase and data-log for any possible AFR/fueling concerns.

I’m still up in the air about port injection or HPFP options (Helix or VTT shotgun). The objective is to take my N54 335i to 575-600whp on 100% E85. I enjoy the idea of making the power solely on direct injection. Port inject is shown so that’s my most likely route.

N54 Suspension Mods.

Part of this is just maintenance, too. It all goes into dealing with. My E90 335i is still my everyday driver so I didn’t go too extreme with suspension mods. A great deal of it was just OEM parts, but I included some upgrades.

  • TC Kline SA Coilovers.
  • M3 Front & Back Control Arms.
  • M3 Subframe Bushings.
  • ECS Tracking Arms & Bushings.
  • Sway Bar End Links.
  • Sway Bar Bushings.
  • Engine Mounts.
  • Transmission Installs.
  • Tie Rods.
  • Shock Installs.

I might be missing a few things on this list. Almost the entire suspension is brand name new with OEM parts. The exceptions being the TC Kline Coilovers and ECS trailing arms. M3 control arms are OE from the E9x M3 and they fit ideal onto the E90 chassis.

The car manages well. Steering feel is spot on in every way possible. Cornering is extremely flat. It rides a little rough in the city, however it’s not dreadful. The flight could be much even worse had I selected strong subframe bushings and motor/trans installs. I ‘d do these mods and revitalize 10x over. Nothing else planned for suspension presently, however I may do a couple of more upgrades down the road.

N54 Engine Upkeep.

In mid-2019 I chose I was keeping the 2007 335i alive for the long-run. It was time to get this car gotten ready for another decade. That indicated costs a fair bit of money on preventative maintenance. A few of the upkeep items were done prior to 100k miles. However, a bulk of it was done at the same time right around 113k miles on my N54.

  • Index 12 injectors.
  • Water pump/ thermostat.
  • Growth tank.
  • Coolant tubes.
  • Radiator.
  • Cooling fan.
  • Oil pan gasket.
  • Oil filter real estate & gasket.
  • Valve cover & gasket.
  • Walnut blasting.
  • Belt & Pulleys.
  • All 4 O2 sensing units.

The majority of the accessories on my N54 are almost brand new. It belongs to owning these cars. The N54 engine itself is incredible, but the parts around the engine are questionable at best. I might even be missing out on a few upkeep products above. It wasn’t inexpensive to knock all of this out.

What did I get out of it? My N54 335i does not make a chirp at idle. Often I honestly forget the engine is turned on when within. The idle is around 650 RPM’s and I have actually never felt a motor as smooth as this N54. It runs well. Very well considering I beat the living sh ** out of my N54 on a daily basis. No hiccups, no stuttering, not a single oil leakage, and so on.

Apart from sticking with fundamental upkeep I do not have any significant strategies. I’ve touched most of the issue locations on the N54. Ideally I’ll get at least a couple of years of an extremely trusted car. I’ll just knock out these items once again as they appear.
